MARATHON, Florida Keys— Spectators, sports fans and swine lovers are gearing up for the second annual National Pig Days celebration set for Friday through Sunday, Feb. 26-28.

In recognition of National Pig Day on March 1, which recognizes the clever and highly intelligent domesticated pig, the Stuffed Pig Restaurant, located at mile marker 49, is teaming up with Rosaire’s Royal Racers to host live pig racing for hordes of squealing fans — complete with a pig mascot.

Races are set for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday evening, and throughout Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 a.m.

Other weekend attractions include live music and dancing, raffles, kids’ activities and a silent auction. Special lunch and dinner menus are to feature burgers, hot dogs, seafood and even barbecued pork.

Admission is $15 per adult and $8 per child age 12 and under. The price includes entry, food and entertainment.

Proceeds from the lively weekend are to benefit the Grace Jones Day Care Center of Marathon.
