ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys — Kevens Reggae Drum & Bass Experience is set to headline the second annual BayJama Reggae Fest set for Saturday, Nov. 27, at the TIB Bank of the Keys Amphitheater in Islamorada Founders Park, located at mile marker 87.

Kevens fuses reggae, rock and lush drum-n-bass with his distinct form of performance art. The former DJ and emcee — a multitalented artist, actor and writer — recently released his first album, “We Are One.”

Other highlights of the musical event, scheduled for 2-10 p.m., are the rocking rhythms of Miami’s Jahfe, whose frontwoman Esther Fortune leads the group of highly skilled musicians through heart-thumping roots/reggae vibes.

Also scheduled to perform are 20Wt, Fourth Dimension, the Keys-based Baga Tricks, Mixed Culture and a special surprise guest.

“This is a great ‘what-to-do-the-Saturday-after-Thanksgiving’ event for reggae and music lovers, in a fabulous setting,” said event organizer Dave Feder. “This [annual event] supports our local art and dance students while helping folks dance off that Thanksgiving meal.”

General admission tickets are $25 the day of the event. Kids age 12 and under are admitted free. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, but coolers or glass containers are not allowed inside the park.

Food and beverages are to be available during the musical magic, with an array of on-site vendors.

BayJama kicks off the 2010-11 season for Islamorada Community Entertainment. The season runs through March.

ICE-sponsored events help fund music, dance and art scholarships for local students. Since the organization’s first Bay Jam 15 years ago, more than $125,000 in scholarships has been awarded.
