John E. McIntyre
My favorite word and usage curmudgeon, John McIntyre of the Baltimore Sun, just wrote a great piece on one of the latest techspeak abbreviations. He was intrigued by JOMO, or the “Joy of Missing Out,” defined as “The pleasure derived from no longer worrying about missing out on what other people are doing or saying.”

While we PR types can’t afford to miss out on anything or disconnect from everything, there is something to recommend McIntyre’s vision of what it might be like to just turn off and tune out for a change.
